“6 Rules of Success
1. Trust yourself.
2. Break some rules.
3. Don’t be afraid to fail.
4. Ignore the naysayers.
5. Work like hell.
6. Give something back”
– Arnold Schwarzenegger
Joshua may have been born locally in Peoria, but he is somewhat of a world traveler. At age 5 his family moved to Switzerland and then to Germany before returning to Illinois. Even as a kid, he was interested in keeping people safe. He learned first aid and fire safety in the Boy Scouts (where he became an Eagle Scout), and then later became a firefighter EMT for the local fire department. His pursuit of safety didn’t end there, becoming a police officer at 21, a trauma tech in the ER in college and eventually back overseas in Iraq as a security specialist.
Today this wealth of experience, along with a host of certifications and licenses help Joshua to lead efforts to teach others about safety and de-escalation. He helps clients with respectful teaching and team work and prides himself on being a problem solver. No matter the safety or cultural problem an organization faces, Joshua lives to create a solution.
In his time off, Joshua brings this generous spirit to his community, still serving as a firefighter paramedic and part time police-officer. He and his family enjoy volunteering with Saint Jude and Kids’ Muddy Madness, as well as a medical clinic in Haiti. Joshua also enjoys home remodeling, and has learned quite a bit about construction throughout the process. One day he hopes to share his world travel experience and take his family around the world, and start a successful business.
